AI Calorie vs Cronometer

Cronometer is built for detailed nutrition: its free Basic plan tracks up to 95 nutrients, while photo and voice logging need the paid Gold plan. AI Calorie is simpler: photo, text and barcode logging with daily limits on its free plan, showing calories and macros. Choose between depth and speed.

Is Cronometer free?

Yes, Cronometer has a free Basic plan priced at $0. Its pricing page lists food logging, up to 95 nutrients, a barcode scanner and a database of over 1M lab-analyzed or verified foods in Basic. Photo Log, Voice Log and the AI Crono Coach are listed only under the paid Gold plan (checked 31 October 2026).

How much does Cronometer Gold cost?

Cronometer's pricing page lists Gold at US$4.99 per month billed annually, which is $59.99 a year, or US$10.99 per month billed monthly (checked 31 October 2026). Prices in your own currency and store can differ, so confirm in the App Store or Google Play before you subscribe.

Which is better for macros, Cronometer or AI Calorie?

It depends on the detail you need. Both let you set macro targets without paying. Cronometer also tracks up to 95 nutrients and lists a macro scheduler under Gold. AI Calorie shows calories, protein, carbs and fat for each entry and lets you log from a photo on its free plan, within a daily limit.

See AI Calorie as a macro tracker.

Is there a simpler app than Cronometer?

If you only want calories and macros, a simpler app can be easier to keep up. AI Calorie logs meals from a photo, a text description or a barcode and shows calories, protein, carbs and fat. It does not track micronutrients the way Cronometer does, so choose by how much detail you actually need.

Is Cronometer more accurate than AI Calorie?

We have not tested either app and have no measured accuracy figures, so we cannot say. Cronometer states that its database holds over 1M lab-analyzed or verified foods, which describes its data source rather than photo accuracy. Any photo estimate, ours included, should be reviewed before you save it.

How we plan to test: how accurate is AI calorie counting?

Who each one suits

  • Cronometer suits people who want micronutrient detail and are comfortable with a fuller interface, or who will pay for Gold features such as Photo Log.
  • AI Calorie suits people who want a quick log from a photo or a sentence and mainly watch calories and macros. It is newer, and it started in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Reviews and ratings

Cronometer shows testimonials on its own site. We do not repeat them because we cannot verify them, and ratings change often. Read the current App Store and Google Play reviews for both apps before you decide.
