How AI Calorie tracks your macros
Photo scan
Photograph your plate and the AI suggests the foods, portions and their protein, carbs and fat. You review and edit before saving.
Barcode scan
Scan a packaged food. The app looks it up in its food catalog and in Open Food Facts, so labelled products take a few seconds.
Describe it
Type or dictate what you ate in plain language, such as "chicken salad with olive oil dressing", and the AI turns it into food entries.
Daily macro targets
Targets come from your calorie goal, and you can change each macro yourself and reset to the defaults at any time.
Log a meal in three steps
Snap, scan or describe
Photograph the meal, scan its barcode, or type what you ate.
Check the estimate
The AI returns calories, protein, carbs and fat. Change the portion or any number that looks off.
Watch your day add up
Save it, and your daily macro rings and calories update on the home screen.

Frequently asked questions
What is a macro tracker?
A macro tracker records the protein, carbohydrates and fat in what you eat, usually alongside calories, and compares them with daily targets. People use one to manage body weight, build muscle or simply eat more evenly. AI Calorie does this from a photo, a barcode scan or a short description.
How do I track macros from a photo?
Open AI Calorie, choose Photo and photograph your plate. The AI suggests the foods and estimates portions, calories, protein, carbs and fat. You check the result, adjust the portion if needed, and save it. Your daily macro rings update straight away. The numbers are estimates, so review them.
Is macro tracking free in AI Calorie?
Yes. Macro tracking is included on the free plan. The free plan allows 1 photo scan, 5 text logs and 2 insights per day. Pro is an optional subscription that only raises those daily AI limits. The rest of the app works the same on both plans.
Can I set my own macro targets?
Yes. By default the app splits your calorie target into 30% protein, 40% carbs and 30% fat, which is 150 g, 200 g and 67 g at 2,000 calories. In Nutrition Goals you can tap a macro to change it, and you can reset to the default at any time.
Can I log packaged food by barcode?
Yes. Choose Barcode and scan the product. The app looks it up in its food catalog and in Open Food Facts, a public database of packaged foods. If a product is missing, you can describe it in text or photograph it instead. Always check the serving size.
How accurate are macro estimates from a photo?
Photo estimates are approximate. Portion size, hidden oil and sauces, and mixed dishes can move the real numbers, so review each result before saving. We have not yet published our own accuracy tests and will not quote an accuracy figure until we have measured one.
